- Promotes the development of morals, integrity and ethics via discussions, role playing, observations and real time experiences within the context of “Functional Life Lessons” and teachable moments with a focus on choices and decision making models.
- Focuses on goal setting, questioning to learn, test taking, study skills, reading to think critically, homework assistance, and academic remediation as well as enrichment.
- Focuses on confidence and esteem building through drumming, stepping and dancing, writing, drawing, and rapping.
- Focuses on health and wellness through nutrition, exercise, human sexuality, and balanced living.
- Focuses on leadership skills development, which focuses on researching, discussing, and emulating the positive character attributes, values, and skills of famous role models, such as Dr. King and other Legacy Builders.
- Focuses on providing opportunities for children and their families to participate in a variety of community service projects.
- Promotes career awareness, exploration, and mobility among children and their families.
- Promotes the knowledge and skills to make responsible economic and financial decisions with the goal of staying financially stable, healthy and happy throughout life.
9) Environmental Stewardship
- Promotes the development of an appreciation for the environment’s natural resources and the importance of environmental conservation, which will lead to a lifelong commitment to environmental stewardship.
- Promotes understanding and application of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) principles through discussions, activities, resources, and experiments.
